Minooka Police Warning About Phone Calls
|
The Minooka Police Department has received complaints of phone soliciting. The callers claim to be from the police department and that they are calling for the officers' union. Callers then state that money donated directly benefits the officers, and pays for officers' benefits. The Minooka Police Department says this is not true; and that Minooka officers are paid by the village, with their benefits not coming from their union. Officers do, however, pay union dues directly out of their paychecks. Minooka Police Officers are prohibited from phone soliciting, and therefore any callers saying they are with the department are not telling the truth. The Minooka police chief's office is suggesting that anyone receiving these calls simply hang up the phone immediately. |
