State Wants Help on The Boulevard

There are still plans in the works for the proposed BOULEVARD shopping complex, which would be a combined Joliet and Plainfield project northwest of I-55 and U S 30.  But now the Illinois Department of Transportation has stepped forward, asking the two cities to contribute more money to the changes that would be needed at that interchange.  Joliet City Councilman Joe Shetina has told 1340 WJOL News that this is consistant with what IDOT has been doing lately, as they ask municipalities to "pitch in" more on road work done around major projects.  Shetina says the work around The Boulevard would involve new ramps and access roads, with Joliet probably contributing the larger share.  Shetina says the topic came up at the recent Joliet City Council Land Use Committee meeting, and will hopefully come before the full council in the near future.
