Two Nights of Railroad Meetings Scheduled

Wednesday night will be the evening for the first of many meetings for the public about the issue of Canadian National's proposed purchase of the E J and E rail line, and what it could mean as far as the amount of increase in rail traffic.  Wednesday evening's session will be in Downtown Frankfort at Breidert Green, starting at 7 PM.  The entire Lincoln Way area has been expressing concern about this.  For example, New Lenox mayor Tim Balderman continues to say that Canadian National's proposed contribution for needed grade separations and overpasses to help cope with the increased rail traffic is far from adequate.  And in addition, now that Canadian National is demanding a decision from the federal Surface Transportation Board by October 15th, at least on the transportation part of the issue, there would be a lot less time to reach a compromise.  New Lenox will then hold their meeting on the issue on Wednesday September 10th, 7 PM at Lincoln Way Central High School.
