Fourth of July Safety Warnings
The Plainfield Police Department reminds you that every year over nine-thousand people nationwide are injured in fireworks related injuries that occur from mid-June through mid-July. And one out of every three are children under the age of 15. It is also estimated that 22-hundred reported structure or vehicle fires were started by fireworks as recently as two years ago, resulting in 21 million dollars in direct property damages. The Plainfield Police take fireworks enforcement very seriously, and have taken several steps to ensure public safety. The Plainfield Police will have several officers in residential areas assigned specifically to fireworks enforcement and complaints. Plainfield ordinances prohibit the sale, possession, use, and discharge or fireworks. Violators should expect 250 dollar citations.
